ABOUT MyEO

Malaysian Economics Olympiad or known as MyEO is an annual national level competition in the Economic (macroeconomics, finance, microeconomics, entrepreneurship & investment) for students who are in secondary school aged 13 to 18 years old on 31st December of the competition year and also pre-university students. This competition is the subsequential to Kijang Economics Competition.

SELECTION PROCESS

There will be no registrations open for this competition. The medalist (gold, silver and bronze) from Upper and Lower Secondary category (student age 13 until 18 years old) in Kijang Economics Competition will be automatically eligible to participate in MyEO. They will be invited via email after the announcement of the Kijang result. Top five contestants from MyEO will be selected and trained in order to represent Malaysia in the International Economics Olympiad (IEO). IEO 2022 will be hosted by SKT Education Group and Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University in China.

MyEO Format

The format includes 30 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) for Paper 1, a Theory questions for Paper 2 (one subjective question and one essay question), as per the IEO format. However, the format might vary due to it being conducted online. You can download the past year’s MyEO questions from the website. We advised you to find other sources as well as your reference.

International Economics Olympiad (IEO)

IEO is an annual individual and team competition in Economics for students who are in secondary school aged 13 to 18 years old on 31st December of the competition year and also pre-university students. IEO has been established in recognition of the significance of Economics in the general education of young people and in all aspects of their lives. It is a purely educational event. Previously, IEO has been participated by 44 countries all around the world. Learn more about IEO through their official website.

ACHIEVEMENTS

The five top scorers from MyEO 2021 were selected to represent Malaysia at the 4th International Economics Olympiad (IEO) 2021. The event was held virtually by the hosting country Riga, Latvia. It is completely organized by The University of Latvia. The Malaysian team made the country proud by winning 1 gold medal, 3 silver medals and 1 bronze medal. IEO was funded by the Bank of Latvia and completely managed by University of Latvia, National Center for Education of Latvia, SEB, LMT and Higher School of Economics (HSE) Moscow, Russia. IEO was participated by 215 high school students from 44 countries.
