ABOUT MyEO

Malaysian Economics Olympiad or known as MyEO is an annual national level competition in the Economic (macroeconomics, finance, microeconomics, entrepreneurship & investment) for students who are in secondary school aged 13 to 18 years old on 31st December of the competition year and also pre-university students. This competition is the subsequential to Kijang Economics Competition.

SELECTION PROCESS

There will be no registrations open for this competition. The medalist (gold, silver and bronze) from Upper and Lower Secondary category (student age 13 until 18 years old) in Kijang Economics Competition will be automatically eligible to participate in MyEO. They will be invited via email after the announcement of the Kijang result. Several contestants from MyEO will be selected to participate in the National Training Camp and top 5 best students from the camp will be selected to represent Malaysia in the International Economics Olympiad (IEO).

MyEO Format

MyEO consists of Paper 1 and Paper 2. The format includes 30 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) for Paper 1 and a theory questions for Paper 2 (4 essay questions). However, the format might change. You can download the past year’s MyEO questions from the website. We advised you to find other sources as well as your reference.

International Economics Olympiad (IEO)

IEO is an annual individual and team competition in Economics for students who are in secondary school aged 13 to 18 years old on 31st December of the competition year and also pre-university students. IEO has been established in recognition of the significance of Economics in the general education of young people and in all aspects of their lives. It is a purely educational event. Previously, IEO has been participated by 41 teams from 40 countries and territories all around the world. Learn more about IEO through their official website.

IEO AT A GLANCE

In 2021, 749 students participated in the Kijang Economics Competition. Out of 749 participants, 68 winners from the Upper and Lower Secondary category were chosen to participate in the Malaysian Economics Olympiad (MyEO) 2022. The five top scorers from MyEO 2022 were selected to represent Malaysia at the 5th International Economics Olympiad (IEO) 2022. The event was held virtually by the hosting country China. It is completely organized by SKT Education Group and Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University in China.

The Malaysian team made the country proud by winning 1 gold medal, 3 silver medals and 1 bronze medal. IEO was participated in by 201 contestants from 40 countries and territories.

There are 1,193 students participating in the Kijang Economics Competition 2022. 110 top scorers have been invited to participate in the Malaysian Economics Olympiad (MyEO) 2023. It was a one-day contest that covered all economics and financial aspects.
